About us

Uig Community Centre Association was established in 1995 with the aim of creating a hub for the community of Uig, Isle of Lewis.

The centre was opened in 1998 with funding from various bodies as well as £20,000 raised by the local community.  The monies were raised by hosting meal nights, Ceilidhs, annual Gala days as well as other events.

In 2007 the centre was extended to incorporate the local Fire Brigade, a state of the art kitchen, meeting rooms, offices, IT suite and extra storage facilities.

The centre is managed by a committee of volunteers (UCCA) who work hard to ensure the centre is functional for everyone in the community.  When it comes to the running costs of the building we rely greatly on funding from the tearoom and the annual Gala Day held on Reef Machair.

The facility is well used throughout the year by various local groups and individuals, who enjoy free use of the centre due to the money raised annually.
